I don't know why they specifically list it as a 'boy's' costume. My daughter loves it!! I am beginning to think she is going to wear it out before halloween. It has survived an afternoon jumping on the trampoline and playing with friends - and she plays rough. It has held up very well. I have only one minor complaint, the back doesn't really close up well. The velcro tabs are small and there are only 2 of them. Otherwise a great costume!!
